Active e-learning teaching of students on example of software engineering course


Distance learning via the Internet (e-learning) brings many benefits and a number of threats. One of the most important in our opinion, is the feel-ing of student’s loneliness, lack of contact with the teacher and other learners which, consequently, decrease the motivation to learn. This often leads to a distorted and a significant decrease in the student’s activity. The important problem is how to raise student’s motivation to work. In the paper the authors are trying to share their experiences in the methods of activation and increase student motivation. They present their own method of activation, based on the method of PBL (Project Based Learning) and the use of Colbe-cycle. The are used in several editions of e-learning courses in the field of software engineering and systems de-sign. The course is for second-cycle direction in computer science at the Technical University of Warsaw in the SPRINT model by Training Cen-tre for Distance Learning at Warsaw University of Technology. The ex-perience gained over several years indicate that the introduction of the teaching of second-cycle level design methods and the use of actual col-laboration tools and repository models give positive effects of activation. However, involves a tremendous amount of time working with a platform for both the student and the teacher.
